Dr. Lamont J. Sessoms Jr, born to Gracelia Fortune and Lamont Sessoms Sr, has been an advocate for justice and equality from a young age. He has consistently stood up for freedom and voiced the concerns of the people. Dr. Sessoms is a lifelong advocate for freedom and community service, with a strong focus on supporting homeless individuals, stemming from his own experiences of homelessness. He effectively provided shelter, assistance, and trauma counseling to prostitutes and street walkers.
Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Sessoms has received numerous city and state recognition for the work he has accomplished within the local community, city and state. He has established numerous outreach programs dedicated to empowering marginalized communities. He founded the “Put the Guns Down” movement which resulted in 30 guns being surrendered to the police department by gang members and drug dealers. Dr. Sessoms received special honorary recognition from the then governor of South Carolina Nikki Hailey and President Barack Obama. Dr. Sessoms’ work has not only impacted individual lives but has also brought transformative change to entire neighborhoods. His unwavering vision of a more equitable and just society has inspired countless individuals to join his cause, significantly amplifying the reach and effect of his contributions.
Dr. Sessoms travels nationwide to motivate and encourage people. He was educated at Martin Luther King High School, Lancaster Bible College, Philadelphia Biblical University, and Apex School of Theology, where he earned his Doctorate. He has authored three books and is working on more. A sought-after speaker, his goal is to continue changing lives.
